Our aims, taken from our constitution, are to relieve the suffering of cats who are in need of care and attention and, in particular, to provide or maintain rescue homes or other facilities for the reception and care of such unwanted animals and their treatment.
About Haworth Cat Rescue
Behind every cat is a person: somebody who has mistreated it or somebody who is reluctantly forced to surrender it - and of course, somebody new to love him or her and gain so much in return.
We aim to support them all - changing attitudes through education, reassuring and comforting with our no-kill promise, and matching the right cat with the right individual or family to ensure new and happy endings.
Haworth Cat Rescue was founded in 1992 in response to the urgent local need to provide a safe haven for the many abandoned and neglected cats and kittens in the area. In 1997 we acquired registered charity status as Haworth Animal Welfare (Cat Rescue) and the following year earned the accolade of Best Cat Rescue in Britain awarded by the Friskies Petcare Foundation. We remain known by our familiar name, Haworth Cat Rescue.

Over the years our reputation for excellence and standards of cat care has steadily grown - and our cat and kitten pens are constructed in line with the high standards set by the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB). Today the charity serves a wide area stretching beyond its immediate environs of Haworth and Keighley to Halifax, Bradford, Hebden Bridge, Skipton and Craven and beyond. |

The plight of unwanted stray, feral and abandoned cats in West Yorkshire continues unabated and we work tirelessly to improve their lot.
People Power
Behind every success we achieve is a person. Someone like you who supports us through fundraising, donating or committing their time at our current centre.
The efforts of our supporters enable our work to carry on and help us edge closer to our goal of building a new and permanent home so that the future is assured.Without this help, Haworth Cat Rescue would cease to exist.
We are thankful for every donation we receive, large or small, and appreciate the rewards of each and every fundraising activity instigated by you.
We would love to hear from you so you can find out how best you can help us.

The correct spelling is Haworth (the old settlement of Haw, on the river Worth), but most people spell it Howarth, which is the traditional spelling for the surname. The cats don't care - they can't spell, but the search engines prefer it to be spelt correctly, so you'll find us quicker online if you search for "Haworth" not "Howarth"!
